BC Introduces a $50 Million Relief Grant for Restaurants and Businesses Affected by Recent COVID-19 Restrictions

The BC government has launched the Circuit Breaker Business Relief Grant. Through this program, one-time grants between $1,000 and $10,000 will be provided to hospitality and fitness businesses that have had their operations interrupted by provincial restrictions imposed on March 30, 2021.

$50 million in grants is being made available to help offset the impact of the Public Health Officer orders which banned indoor dining and group fitness activities, and closed Whistler Blackcomb ski resort. Hospitality and fitness businesses that have been fully or partially closed as a result are eligible as long as they have been in operation as of February 1, 2021. Funds received can be used on rent and utilities, insurance, maintenance and costs of perishable food loss.

The application process is streamlined so businesses can access grants as quickly as possible. Applicants only need to provide one document as proof of operation and deposit information. Visit this Government of BC webpage for more details and to submit your application.

Grants are available until June 4, 2021 or until funds have been fully distributed.
