Answering your most common questions.

What cars qualify for classic or collector car insurance?

To qualify for classic or collector car insurance, your vehicle typically must be:

  • Built in 1979 or older
  • Built in 1980 or newer if it is a special or limited edition, supercar, or special import
  • Have a minimum value (depending on the category of the vehicle)
  • Be in a certain level condition (depending on the category of the vehicle)
  • Not a daily driver or commuting vehicle
  • Not be used for camping, business, racing or other timed events, or off-roading
Why is collector car insurance more affordable than regular car insurance?

Classic and collector car insurance is usually more affordable than regular car insurance for a few reasons, including:

  • Not used daily or as a commuting vehicle
  • Usually only driven during good weather
  • Drivers tend to be more experienced
  • Fewer kilometres are driven
  • Better vehicle storage
Does collector car insurance provide coverage if I want to drive my vehicle?

Your collector car is your pride and joy and you want to be able to enjoy it. Collector car coverage provides protection when you participate in classic car events and parades – and even for the occasional pleasure cruise.

Collector car insurance, however, does not provide protection if you use your collector car for either business use of any kind or daily driving (i.e., shopping, commuting to work, vacations that are not related to collector car activities).
