Through fundraising, sponsorships, direct donations and volunteering, we support numerous national, provincial and regional organizations that empower individuals and strengthen our communities.

We support many organizations, both big and small, to help improve lives in our communities through a variety of charitable events.
Acera Insurance Run for L’Arche
In 2011, Acera Insurance established the Run for L’Arche — our annual run and walk event in support of L’Arche Calgary. We continue to coordinate and lead what is now one of the most popular early spring season events on the Calgary running calendar. Our event would not be possible without the support of our volunteers, participants, L’Arche communities, Acera Insurance employees and our many loyal sponsors.
Our Impact
- Providing people with developmental disabilities safe homes, loving and respectful communities, and the opportunity to live a more fulfilling life and increase their engagement in daily programs, work and other public events.
- Contributing funds for five homes and a supported independent living program in Calgary.
Acera Benefits Community Day
Held multiple times throughout the year, Community Day is dedicated to volunteerism and fostering connections within our community. Our Acera Benefits team puts words into action and dedicates the day to getting out into the community and making a difference, from offering a helping hand at food banks and community kitchens to helping at humane societies. Community Day is an opportunity for our team to strengthen our communities and support local charities while showcasing the true meaning of our core value “Put People First.”
Leaders in Insurance Charity Classic Golf Tournament
In 1994, a small group of Calgary Insurance adjusters, executives and brokers launched The Jim Sinclair Charity Golf Tournament. The Sinclair — now known as the Leaders in Insurance Charity Classic — was Alberta’s only insurance industry fundraising event of its kind.
Our Impact
- Supporting lifesaving cancer research by raising funds for the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) Alberta Chapter.
- Helping to educate and empower the next generation of insurance professionals by contributing to the Bow Valley College Insurance Program scholarship fund.
Variety Month
Variety Show of Hearts is an annual fundraising event that celebrates children of all abilities with special presentations airing on Global BC over multiple days and culminating in a telethon. This is a cause close to the hearts of all of us and we have been a proud supporter for several years.
Our Impact
- Supporting kids of all abilities along their unique journeys, and ensuring they have access to the medical care and services they need thanks to the work of Variety BC.
Golf 4 Kids
Since its inaugural event in 1990, Golf 4 Kids has been supporting BGC Okanagan’s life-changing programs and services for local children, youth and families. This year three tournaments were held across the Okanagan between June and August, where we introduced the Acera Insurance Golf 4 Kids Ball Drop.

- Supporting BCG Okanagan’s programs and initiatives that provide safe communities, positive role models and empowering opportunities for local children and youth.
United Way Southern Vancouver Island
Our involvement with the Southern Vancouver Island United Way is more than just support—it’s a partnership aimed at building a better, more resilient community for all. The United Way focuses on critical issues such as education, financial stability, and health, aiming to improve the lives of individuals and families in need.
Our Impact
- Organizing educational learning sessions with United Way representatives to better understand the vital causes they support, from childhood education programs to emergency financial assistance for families in crisis.
- Bringing our community together through fun and creative fundraising events like raffles and karaoke nights featuring talented drag queen performers, all in the spirit of supporting the United Way’s important work.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
At Acera Insurance we are dedicated to supporting the JDRF in their mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) and improve the lives of those affected by the disease. JDRF is at the forefront of diabetes research, advocacy, and community support, working tirelessly to turn Type One into Type None.
Our Impact
- Joining thousands of others in raising awareness and funds to support critical research and support programs through the JDFR Walk.
- Bringing together community leaders and supporters at the JDRF Ball to celebrate advancements in diabetes research and to contribute to the ongoing fight against T1D
- Hosting an annual hotdog sale that brings our community together for a fun and delicious way to support JDRF.
