Acera Insurance expands benefits division in Ontario, partners with Dominion Group Benefits

CALGARY, May 6, 2024 — Acera Insurance Services Ltd. continues to expand its specialty Acera Benefits division in Ontario, following its newest partnership with Hamilton-based Dominion Group Benefits.

The deal with Dominion Group Benefits closed on May 1, 2024, just two months after Green Benefits Group of Burlington, ON, joined the Acera Benefits division.

“We are pleased to welcome Dominion Group Benefits to our organization as we continually expand the reach of Acera Benefits,” says Tony Fairfield, President, Group Benefits, Acera Insurance.

“Ken Zeise and his colleagues have provided exceptional group benefits solutions for over 30 years. By combining our collective strengths and stability, we will provide a broader suite of benefits and retirement savings options to businesses of all sizes around the Hamilton and London regions.”

With Ontario currently being a hub of mergers and acquisitions activity, Dominion Group Benefits founding principal Ken Zeise says he connected with Acera Insurance’s unique advantage as the largest independent, employee-controlled firm in Canada.

“I have operated as an independent advisory firm since 1991 — ensuring we continue to serve our clients with the utmost integrity was a key factor when choosing a partner to grow with,” says Zeise. “I am pleased to know partnering with Acera Insurance will allow us to increase scale while ensuring our clients continue to receive personalized, unbiased solutions and guidance from our local team.”

Dominion Group Benefits will fully transition to Acera Benefits in the coming months.

Acera Benefits is an integrated benefits consulting team that helps Canadian employers design competitive, cost-effective, customized employee benefits plans that are flexible to an ever-changing health and wellness environment. As a specialty division of Acera Insurance, Acera Benefits is uniquely positioned to offer clients many value-added services not typically available through traditional benefits consultants.

The Dominion Group Benefits deal marks the third partnership that Acera Insurance has made in Ontario so far in 2024, showcasing the brokerage’s commitment to ensure a strong, independent, Canadian-owned presence remains in the local market, where it also has offices in Aurora, Brampton, Burlington, Huntsville, Newmarket and Ottawa.
